Wired thermostats (neoStat)
Cabled back to the wiring centre or the heating itself. No batteries to change, and the natural choice when the cable is already in the wall or the floor is going down as part of a build.
The right thermostat depends on your system, your rooms and how you want to control it. Here’s how to choose, from the people who fit them. We install Heatmiser controls for water-based and electric underfloor heating across Belfast and Greater Belfast.
For most homes, the best thermostat for underfloor heating is one that controls each zone separately, reads the floor as well as the air where the floor finish needs protecting, and lets you set schedules from your phone. That’s why we fit Heatmiser: a UK specialist in underfloor heating controls, with wired and wireless thermostats that all run from one app.
Good to know: we fit the controls, not the underfloor heating. If you already have underfloor heating, or it’s being installed now, we handle the thermostats, wiring centre and app.
We fit the whole Neo range, and older Heatmiser Slimline thermostats too.
Cabled back to the wiring centre or the heating itself. No batteries to change, and the natural choice when the cable is already in the wall or the floor is going down as part of a build.
Battery-powered and connected by radio, so there’s no new cable to chase into the wall. Ideal for upgrading an existing system in a finished room.
Plugs into your router and puts every zone in the Heatmiser app: schedules, temperatures and holiday settings from your phone.
Warm water from your boiler or heat pump runs through pipes under the floor, fed from a manifold. Each room’s thermostat tells the wiring centre to open that zone and call for heat. The thermostats you choose need to talk to that wiring centre, which is where installation detail matters.
A heating mat or cable under the floor, common in bathrooms, kitchens and extensions. The thermostat switches the heating directly, usually with a floor sensor so it never overheats tiles, timber or vinyl. The thermostat has to be suited to the load it’s switching.
Underfloor heating works best when each zone has its own thermostat: the kitchen warm for breakfast, the bedrooms cooler overnight, the extension heated only when you use it. With Heatmiser, every zone sits in one app, and radiator zones upstairs can run in the same system as the underfloor heating downstairs.
Building or renovating? Plan the controls early, before floors and walls are finished, and tell us your timeline. We’ll work alongside your underfloor heating installer on the controls.
We look at your manifold or heating mats, the wiring centre and any existing thermostats, the floor finishes, and your Wi-Fi, then recommend wired, wireless or a mix. You get a clear quote before any work starts.
For water-based systems we check or fit the wiring centre that opens each zone and calls the boiler or heat pump. For electric systems, each thermostat switches its zone’s heating directly.
One thermostat per zone, wired or wireless, with floor sensors where the floor finish needs protecting. Each is tested and paired.
The neoHub goes on your router. We set up the app, build a schedule for each zone with you, and explain how to get the best from a slower-warming floor.
Radiators too? See Heatmiser central heating controls, or everything we do with Heatmiser.
Yes. With Heatmiser’s Neo thermostats and a neoHub on your router, every zone appears in the Heatmiser app, so you can change schedules and temperatures from anywhere.
Each zone you want to control separately needs its own thermostat. Often that means one per room, but open-plan areas fed by more than one zone can share a thermostat. We’ll map it out on the survey.
Wired if there’s already a cable at the thermostat position or the walls are open for building work. Wireless if you’re upgrading a finished room and don’t want new cables chased in. Many homes end up with a mix.
In most cases, yes, whether your system is water-based or electric. We check your manifold, wiring centre or heating mats on the survey before you spend anything.
That’s normal: a floor holds a lot of heat, so it takes longer to warm up and cool down than radiators. A good schedule that starts the heating early, rather than turning it up and down, makes it far more comfortable.
No. We fit and set up the controls: thermostats, wiring centres and app control. If your underfloor heating is being installed now, we can work alongside your installer on the controls.
